Free VPN for iPhone: what you really pay

The client app costs nothing. The trial is free for a set time. After that the connection has a price.

What costs nothing and what does not

Three different things get called free on an iPhone. The client app is free to install from the App Store. The key is free for a trial period: 10 days free, with the link coming from the bot. After that, a key is paid for in the bot, in cryptocurrency; the home page and the bot both list the plans.

A free iPhone VPN with no catch and no end does not exist in this arrangement, and a service that claims one is paying for itself some other way. Whatever the arrangement is, the app's listing and privacy policy should show it, and if they do not, that tells you something.

Checks before installing any free VPN app

  • The listing names a publisher and shows a privacy policy you can open.
  • The app does not demand an account, a phone number and your contacts before it connects.
  • It says what it logs. A vague or missing answer is an answer.
  • It does not boast of perfect privacy or endless free use.
  • Its App Store page lists what data it collects. Read that block, not the stars.

Why free apps with ads and trackers cost more than they seem

A tunnel app sees every request your phone sends. When the app is free and the publisher has no visible income, the fair guess is that the traffic itself is the product.

We keep no logs, which is a statement about this service, not a promise you can verify from outside. That is the reason the checks above are about listings and permissions: things you can read yourself.

What a free trial is good for

Use the trial to find out whether the connection suits you: switch between servers, watch what your usual apps do, see how the battery behaves over a day. It is also the time to learn whether you need a tunnel at all. If you only want to read on public Wi-Fi, ten days is plenty to decide.

A tunnel will not make a slow mobile signal fast, and it cannot open services whose terms in your region forbid it. A VPN on an iPhone does not override an app's own terms, and whether a service is available to you depends on those terms and on local rules, which you are the one to follow.

Behind this page

Is this a neutral comparison? Not quite: the service behind the site hands out paid keys, which is why the checklist leans on things you can read in the store yourself.

So the order on this page is not a ranking of anything we sell. Each step can be tried on your own phone in a minute or two, and if a step cannot be confirmed there, treat it as unproven and leave it out of your decision.

Questions and answers

Programme

Is the App Store client really free?

The Happ listing is free to download and asks for iOS 15 or later. Prices inside apps can change, so look at the listing before you install.

Do I need an Apple ID subscription for this?

The key is not an Apple subscription. It is a link the bot issues, paid for in the bot.

Can I pay by card or UPI after the trial?

No. The bot takes cryptocurrency only, USDT for example; a card or UPI will not work.

Does the trial renew by itself?

There is no auto-renewal anywhere. Each period is paid for in the bot when you choose.

Will the free app slow down my battery?

Any always-on connection uses some power, and we have no battery figures to quote. Compare a day with it on and a day with it off on your own phone.

Is there an Indian server I can pick?

No. The choice is Singapore, Abu Dhabi, Toronto, Madrid or Manchester, so an Indian address is not available.
